Dr. Jennings, Doresa (Indie)

Dr. Doresa Jennings has taught at the collegiate level for over twenty years and currently works with educators working to obtain their Master’s degree in Education. She also spent over a decade with the federal government, including working for NASA. This is where her vision for The STEAM Chasers book series began. The STEAM Chasers introduces young people to Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Math by helping them to discover the contributions Black Americans have made to those fields and how those contributions impact our everyday lives. Dr. Jennings chose to write for a middle grade audience due to this being one of the most critical times in a young person’s educational journey. Dr. Jennings has a writing style that expertly combines education and humor in a way that is engaging and keeps readers coming back for more. Her STEAM Chasers series is one of the first of its kind and creates an entire world of own voices characters that will delight and entertain. In addition to the novel series, Dr. Jennings has begun to create educational journals that provide middle grade readers an opportunity to ‘do’ some of the exciting research and experiments they learn about in the STEAM Chasers novels. The STEAM Chasers is an ongoing series and Dr. Jennings will be publishing a minimum of ten books for the series by 2025. The goal is to take middle grade readers on an exciting journey of Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Math with Shar, Terrence, Ebony, Akiya, Marcus, and Chase as the STEAM Chasers leading the way!
