Raven Hawes has had a love for reading, writing, and mathematics at a very young age growing up in the Mississippi Delta (Itta Bena). These loves were cultivated during her studies at Jackson State University where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Education with concentrations in English and math. She began her education career as a Creative Writing teacher before moving into mathematics. Throughout her career, she aimed to inspire a love of mathematics in her students. She began writing children’s books to spark this love through literature.
