Jem T. Hughes was born and raised in the South Bronx, NY. She holds a masters of arts degree from Teachers College, Columbia University in NYC. She was an elementary teacher and now a school administrator, and writing a children’s book has always been a dream of hers. She is very proud of the rich urban culture that NYC has to offer, especially the NYC subway. Her work gives pride to children who grew up in the inner city, and gives access to children who may have never experienced the inner city.
