Kenyatta Scott holds a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the University of Illinois in Chicago and a master’s degree in I-OPsychology from Adler University. Kenyatta completed a postgraduate fellowship in Child Development and Early Childhood Education at Yale University. She is a Chicago resident. She is an acclaimed children’s book author, educator, and motivational speaker. Her book series was featured on WCIU-TV (2017), for Black History Month, celebrating diversity in children’s literature.
The Violet Book Series is a morally based book series with a focus on making doing the right thing fun. The series also combats the stereotype that fathers are not present in communities of children of color. There are parent engagement and reading comprehension questions in the back of each book.
