Anthony Tucker is a public school teacher in the South Bronx and a high school basketball and volleyball coach. As an educator and coach, Anthony is determined to ensure that students who come from neglected neighborhoods are encouraged to pursue their education with passion, commitment, and a higher sense of self-confidence. Anthony was born in New York City, and grew up in a public housing project in the East Harlem section of Manhattan, where he experienced first hand the challenges of growing up in a poor, urban environment. He is also the Author of ‘A Rocky Start’ a children’s picture book that gives you a brief glimpse into the life of a boy and how he decided to become the educator he is today. He believes that if students see a person from similar circumstances overcoming adversity, they will start to believe they, too, can do the same.
